Young and not-so-stupid
Oct 25 2007, 10:30 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 25 2007, 10:30 PM EDT
Mia is definitely screaming for attention. Her mother is dead and her father might as well be considering his inability to connect with women he's not screwing. Which explains part of the reason why Mia believes that the only way to get attention from a man is through sex. It will be great to see Mia mature and still keep her edge, even a bit more ruthlessness. Besides, the best time in life to get away with making stupid decisions is when you're young. 5  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

How much of Mia is in your past? I'm not judging but guessing a little. I'm glad you never posted on the message board and thus into the fray that is love/hate Mia. You're the first to see past and into her character. Do you find this valuable?

If I've learned nothing in my life, I've learned that worrying about the judgements of others only has signifigance if I choose to give it significance. We have become a society so afraid of the opinions of others that we repress our emotions and spout the safe answer "I hate Mia" or "I love her". We refuse to explore all the dimensions of a person's character hoping to save ourselves from rejection. There is nothing to gain in judging others besides a one-dimensional view and sadly we miss all the great stuff that makes another person magnificient. (Sorry to go off on that tangent) Back to Mia...Isn't the reason that we are addicted to drama, regardles of its genre, acting, music, art, is because we can relate to the work whether it be real or fantasy. There's a lot of Mia in me, whether if who I am or who I'd like to be. Do you find this valuable?

From the show, to Mia and into life people are afraid of the truth. It's way too easy to hide behind and in the line where others stand.

Where did you come from? You're inner self is very rare.

Im not sure shes craving attention, whats wrong with a female/young girl enjoying sex, far play to her, its a sign of the times, women shold be more up front on what they want, no longer sitting back and hopping it just happens, shes not as stupid as people think, and if it gets her what she wants, all the best to her. I envey Hank, bang her and keep it under wraps, that what I say.

If Mia is a virgin as she confesses to be, then just screwing Hank is probably not what she really wants. I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying sex, but I think you're missing the point. Mia had ulterior motives of which may still be revealed, and Hank, well Hank kept it under wraps for many reasons...1)Mia's age. Hank is not so inept or without remorse that he doesn't feel a least a little guilt for letting his self-loathing get in the way of better judgement. 2) I'm sure he would be mortified if his daughter knew he slept with her step-sister, not to mention how Karen would perceive him. Hank kept it underwraps for purely self-preservation reasons. And if Hank had been not so busy feeling sorry for himself, he would have recognized that Mia was a girl in emotional trouble, shit, he's 40+, a writer, therefore, a somewhat expert on character...it's classic case of thinking with the small head. Snap, snap for dona but I can't help myself and add my own twist. First, the quote Blundy used lost me when it gave Bill a nod to his screwing and thus an understanding there fore. Who wrote that?

Self loathing is not what led him to Mia. Maybe that comes from my own denials of self but I can understand your point. Since he can't have Karen he fills the void with selfish sex and deals out hurt to feel better about how Karen is hurting him. Is that self loathing? Hank has his own emotional trouble so how could see her's. She was that days fix against Karen and thus worlds colide. The small head does take some blame though.

Nic e to see some intelligent intercourse here. DickG, I'm no so sure Hank is into dishing out "hurt" as much as he is so self-consumed that the feelings of others are totally insignificant to him and hurting others is a by-product of his selfish behavior. Regardless, you summed it up nicely with ...that day's fix against Karen thus worlds collide. I wish I could be so concise. Do you find this valuable?

That's the writer within and thank you. Maybe, no, is why that's one of the reasons I see myself in Hank. There is no right or wong about Hank and that's real life. Do you find this valuable?

Real life, that what I love about Californication, it can be so raw sometimes. I'm quite grateful that my life is not preserved on film...especially when I was sixteen and a lot like Mia...or Hank...hmmmm Do you find this valuable?
