Becca - Madeline martin
Oct 5 2007, 7:04 AM EDT
Sorry, but this actress does not appear to b a twelve year old - in fact, she seems older than the adult charcters, just shorter. Am I the only one who has commented on this? M. Martin is a talented actor, and I don't want to trash her in any way, but it sems to be an odd casting decision.

Yes, i feel the same way!!! I am trying to figure out just how old she is...who knows? Definitely a weird casting choice---but she does seem to be a kick-ass actress....My son says she is the only character that bugs him and makes the show hard to watch

When is the last time you met a 12-year-old girl that actually acted like a "12-year-old girl'? Please! I think the casting is brilliant! The dark side of Becca's character leaves plenty of room to take her role in so many directions!

I think that is the whole point of casting her in this role......to be in complete contrast with the "obviously childish adults." Besides it's been a very long time since I've seen any twelve year old act any other way except going on thirty, lol.

Maybe you're right if you think about...her role in the show never really ventures into that juvenile side of a teen...she most certainly captures it very well though...her teen side shows through time and time again but that compliments the character so soften her edges...

CALIFORNICATION's acting and actors are grand. But the Becca character (not unlike 6 FEET UNDER's Claire Fisher/Lauren Ambrose) is one of the 2 daughters I'd love to have: Claire and Becca? Perfect!Of COURSE this child is "the adult" to all the children around her. She has "issues" and, in real life in CA, we'd see her visiting her therapist weekly. This is a great series. DD/Hank's dreams at many CALIFORNICATION beginnings are reason alone to watch this series. I just wish I'd coined the phrase "Californication." I moved from Fortification Street, which we all called "Fornification" to CA; it just seems the natural progression for a word lover.. Thank you, SHOWTIME! oonagh+ 0 out of 1 found this valuable. If you ever have the opportunity to see this young woman's work, outside of CAtion, do so. I believe she'll only further develop her craft.oonagh+ Do you find this valuable? |

It's so funny, but upon first seeing her , I had the same opinion( not right for the role, seemed to old) but then she really grew on me, and I have grown quite fond of her both as an actress and as the character. I think she's turned into the sleeper of the show, and has some of the best dialogue on the show. Hope to see more of her next season.1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

she is awsome actress she will boom as she gets older, she is a product of what happens around her, she is surrounded by adults, and there rantings her character has just learned of the adult characters she is so much hank and so much her mum as well. i have loved her dry witty hank like humor from day one. my guess is she is playing about a 14 to 17 yr old. with the punk rock, boys, etc etc .

OK, so I'm watching A Christmas Story like every other year and during the classroom scenes, I am SURE I am seeing the actress who plays Becca playing an elementary school student (in the green dress). So, looking at the date of A Christmas Story (1983) and her supposed age on Californication (12), I try to figure out how old she is. I find this article in the NYT (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/12/theater/newsandfeatures/12schi.html?_r=1&oref=slogin) that puts her birthdate in 1993. So, someone please check out the movie and let me know if I'm right. Does Madeleine Martin have a (much) older sister or a look-alike mother?

Martin doesn't have much of any acting talent at all. They should fire and hire someone WITH talent. Every time she has any opens her mouth to speak I want to fall asleep. I got to the point where I would fast forward the dvd whenever she was on.

I'm pretty sure that Madeline Martin is 15 years old. That said i think she is wonderful in the show. She and Duchovny have great chemistry together.
