After reviewing the first season over the weekend, was totally impressed. (Not a Showtime subscriber ... yet) David plays an asshole to a a tee, but pulls off being a hero at the same time when it's called for. Yes, the smoking and drinking are part of being a writer, but not overdone here. The profanity is refreshingly witty and done in the right style and circumstances where it seems perfectly fitting and natural. Normal television viewers would be completely offended, but people looking for something that pushes the envelope should want to pay attention. The story line of the first season does great in giving tons of background, without a ton of flashbacks, minus the father funeral episode, which I know was necessary to return Henry . . .er. . Hank . . . from his writer's block, or whatever. Personally, when a show can make me laugh, it scores; I'm a hard sell, I believe. But it makes me also get emotional, often clapping for the characters at times. Nice work! Keep 'em coming! 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?
