Does anyone know what restaurant they are supposed to be frequenting all the time? The one with the cool artwork and exposed brick. Maybe it's a set...?

Marat, loosely based on Hal's, is a standing set. http://californicationblog.sho.com/californication/2007/10/110-blog---ques.html#more
"There's a semi-raging debate on chowhound.com about where the restaurant/bar scenes are shot for this show. Hal's and Lucques have been ruled out, and people on chowhound sense that it's a real restaurant and not a set. Can you solve the dilemma for us? - DanaB"
Patterson: We find Hank at his emotional nadir in this episode, trying to drink away the pain of losing a father he never really understood as he sits immobilized in his local bar. That bar is hallowed ground for Hank, a place of retreat where he takes stock of his fractured life. After checking out Chowhound, there is indeed a semi-raging debate. One camp says it's Hal's Bar and Grille, the venerable Venice eatery on Abbot Kinney. The other side claims it's a standing set. The truth is somewhere in between. The memorable double date scene from the pilot where Hank excoriates Meredith was, in fact, shot on location at Hal's. After the pilot was picked up to series, Production Designer Garreth Stove and his talented team recreated a similar restaurant on our sound stages in Culver City.
The fictional restaurant, though never mentioned by name on screen, is known as "Marat" on the slug lines of our teleplays. The bar and grille takes its name from a work of art that hangs on the set's western wall...Jacques-Louis David's captivating 18th Century painting of the death of the eponymous Jacobin, Jean-Paul Marat.
The restaurant is the largest set on our stage, meticulously detailed down to its actual working bar...a bar that was fully stocked for our on-set wrap party when, for an hour or two, Marat became as real as the restaurant that inspired it." http://californicationblog.sho.com/californication/2007/10/blog-108---ques.html#more

Sorry, but this actress does not appear to b a twelve year old - in fact, she seems older than the adult charcters, just shorter. Am I the only one who has commented on this? M. Martin is a talented actor, and I don't want to trash her in any way, but it sems to be an odd casting decision.

The song's title is 'Have Love, Will Travel' originally written and recorded by Richard Berry in 1959. Most known version is from The Sonics in 1965 but the Californication version is performed by The Basics in 2007.

I wanted to compliment the show on the cool way they kept the show fresh and fascinating after season 1 - season one was so perfect I was afraid it couldn't get better. So glad I'm wrong. I also want to say thanks for featuring Rick Springfield. I had posted a request on this wiki during season one to have him on the show, and ta da! There he is! Thanks Dears! I love this show :) Wish I knew a real "Hank", but getting to watch a fictional Hank is pretty cool !

I don't know if there are any thread about this already, but I wanted some other fans of the show's opinion on this. In November The Red Hot Chili Peppers made suit against Showtime and actually want all the money made by the show thus far. I used to be a Pepper fan but I find this so outrageous. I didn't start watching the show because I thought they were involved in any way, and if I had been one of those people who thought they were involved, after the first five minutes I would have realized my mistake. I haven't found any new info on this since they actually files the suit. Has anyone else heard anything? One would think they made enough money with that last album that had two discs for three good songs. I don't mean to insult the Chili Peppers, but this is ridiculous

Anyone else noticing that the plot of this new season is inching really close to the Michael Chabon novel/film? In that one, a middle-aged, pot-smoking, formerly successful writer with poor impulse control is now wreaking havoc teaching writing to impressionable undergraduates. Along the way he has an affair with the chancellor who is also the wife of the head of the English department and takes a disturbed, sexually confused young writer under his not-so-protective wing while simultaneously corralling his barely functional literary agent who hasn't had a profitable client in ages. Hilarity and inappropriate behavior ensue. There are even a couple of lines of dialogue taken almost verbatim from Chabon's book, most glaringly one that Jill has in "Wish You Were Here" about the written word being her drug of choice. Oh, and both the show and the film of Wonder Boys feature Dylan's "Not Dark Yet" on their respective soundtracks, albeit a cover version in "Verities & Balderdash". Obviously there are plenty of details that don't match up so well, but plenty of the plot points are strikingly similar, to me anyway. So waddya think? Coincidence? Homage? Inadvertent theft? Outright theft?

I had not thought of this, but now that you mention it... I am going to have to mull this over and get back to you.I will say that even though I consider myself the NUMBER 1 fan of the show, I have not been loving Season 3 as a whole. The new cast of characters pales in comparison to Ashby, Mia, Sonja and Julien (the Artist within) - even Bill, the dial tone.

I was lapping at the ripe breast like some deranged puppy , her squeals and writhing furthering my lust for blood. It spilled across her bare body like ink spreading on a blank page. She wanted me to drink. She enjoyed every minute of her death. As I moved towards her pulsing neck her eyes filled with love and I knew she would be mine eternally.
