Right there with you, luvducov. This episode was told very Aaron Sorkin-like, but Sorkin never does anything this dark. Really liked this. Anyone else catch the Six Feet Under homage: when Hank's sis calls and tells him his father is dead, we get the classic fade to white, signifying a death. It also transitions to a flashback, but was that just coincidental. I have been watching a lot of Six Feet Under re-runs.

California Son is my favorite so far. It was a perfect blend of drama and comedy. It was just amazing how much was put into this 30 minute episode. Loved seeing the background of the Karen/Hank relationship. Also we got a chance to see that Hank's dad had a very big influence on him in both good and bad ways. His dad cheating on his mom made Hank a more committed man and father because of this. He also got his dad's pension for cursing, smoking and the ladies. But most of all we had the chance to see Hank "make love" for the first time in this series. All the other times he was just "having sex" There was no nudity and yet it was the sexiest scene yet on the show. Loved that there wasn't any music in the background. Only the sound of Karen and Hank's heavy breathing. Which just goes to prove that you really don't need a bunch of T and A to have it be sexy.
